Learning Standards

Drawing from the the Kenya Primary Syllabus, United Kingdom National Curriculum standards and the United States Common Core Curriculum standards, the MS curriculum specifies learning standards in core subject areas at each grade level from KG3 - Standard 8. The learning standards at each level represent the skills introduced, practiced, and mastered each academic year in reading, writing, mathematics, science, and social studies. The MS curriculum also specifies learning standards in the subjects of health education, music, art, and religious education. Core content knowledge is integrated into each unit of study and consists of the  discipline specific facts, theories, concepts, and skills. In addition to academic skills, learning skills are emphasized. Learning skills include, social skills, thinking skills, communication skills, research skills, and self-management skills. These skills are introduced, explored, and practiced at each level of the MS program.

Clearly defined learning standards are fundamental to quality instruction and assessment.
